Make a Wish
(2025)
Taking the Mani stone cairn - a ritual form in which stacked stones carry wishes and blessings.
As its point of departure,
this project turns attention to objects and rituals in everyday culture
that are used tcontain, bear, or project wishes.
By constructing a wish-holding installation from natural materials,
the work proposes a contemporary re-enactment of primal acts of prayer,
while exploring possible connections between humans and nature,
as well as between the body and desire.
Departing from the idea that wishes require a physical site of attachment or placement,
the project reframes clothing as a nest for wishes,
a bodily vessel in which hopes are housed, protected, and carried.
